The story follows Brian Mitchell, a young African American Jehovah's Witness living in the suburbs. In the congregation, the Mitchell's are a model family but everything takes a turn when his parents get a divorce. Brian, now faces the choice of staying a Jehovah or breaking the bubble that his family created.
