Director Biography - KirsiMarja Metsähuone

KirsiMarja Metsähuone works with film, video and photography. Themes of her work include human interaction, urban action, juxtaposing the incompatible, feminist issues, decay, memory, body, identity, deconstruction.

Metsähuone holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the San Francisco Art Institute/United States in experimental film and photography, and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Academy of Fine Arts/Finland in media arts. Her videos and films have been shown e.g. in the United States, Finland, France, Italy, Spain, England, Canada, South America, India.

Director Statement

KirsiMarja Metsähuone is interested in non-narrative in film and narration in photographic expression. Often she works with image-text hybrids.

Her experimental short films and videos are without a traditional narrative and the structure is often times cyclical relying on repetition, close-ups and semi-abstract ambiguity.
