Self-Help Junkie
The “Self-Help Junkie” is up to her 7th chakra in identity crisis, and is v-logging her way through every self-help workbook, guru, and spiritual colon-cleanse she can find on her wine-fed mission to become as flawlessly awesome as possible.
Written by and staring the sole character, Michelle Colston, each 3-5-minute episode opens in her home where she speaks directly to her webcam, discussing the self-help lesson of the week (a new “lesson” per episode). Through montages and flashbacks, we see her experience with each lesson (missing the mark more times than not), as well as the dichotomy between who she perceives herself to be, and who she ACTUALLY is.

Taking inspiration from her first novel, “The Undiscovered Goddess,” creator, writer, and star, Michelle Colston, is thrilled about her directorial debut. “I’m brand-spanking new to filmmaking, but I truly feel I’m in my element with ‘Self-Help Junkie.’” Colston says she is looking forward to creating more web-based projects, but for now she hopes her current web series will inspire women to laugh, as well look at themselves non-judgmentally.
“If we can laugh at ourselves, then we’re much more willing to be comfortable with vulnerability… and that’s where our power is.”
