STRAIGHT

Ruth is a couples’ counselor/sex therapist raised by lesbian moms. Though she is terrific with her clients, encouraging them to open up to their intimate desires, she herself has a stilted and painfully vanilla sex life with her British chef fiancé. Writer Statement

In much of my writing, I look for funny and impactful ways to tell the story of my two moms, who met 40 years ago at a loft party in Soho and, in 1985, embarked on the adventure of raising a child together as a lesbian couple. With this pilot, I'm focusing on how their bravery and the scars of the challenges they've faced, impact their straight daughter. My mothers are hilarious. As a comedian, I want to share this fictionalized version of my family's story and allow LGBTQ millennials a chance at a little voyeurism into the dynamics of such a family, now that they are starting their own.
