Lauren Matsuda received a Professional Certificate in Screenwriting from UCLA and an undergraduate degree in English & Creative Writing from CSU. She has developed her craft over the past 18 years through working as a script reader in London, an agency creative director in Chicago, and a freelance script writer in Denver.
When I was 14 years old, I went on a 21-day wilderness trip that changed the course of my life. At the time, I was an insecure young woman, always looking outside myself. The challenges of the wilderness taught me how to look within.
Later, as a young freelance writer, I worked occasionally as a substitute teacher and I found myself interacting with students who were just like me at that age. They were disillusioned and lost, yet uniquely talented. They just needed a way to access all their positive qualities.
CAMP FOURTEENERS grew out of my desire to explore the idea that broadening our horizons, in the most literal sense, can have real and lasting effects on the inner realm of our lives as well.
