Kathrin can boast with many, apart from the camera operating,

By the means of oil and acrylic paints, pastels and crayons,

far more realistic.

ranging from portraits of the famous Leonardo DiCaprio,
Naomi Campbell and Jennifer Lopez, to ballet shoes, yachts
and apples.

Director Statement

'Ms. Mariah Is Rocking Hollywood: Flamenco 2' is the continuation of 'Flamenco', the award winning movie we made a couple of years ago, which affected many filmmakers worldwide.
Its artistic echo has reverberated in many older and newer international film productions showing the fascination with our short . To those people who've seen our 'Flamenco' we wanna say how the movie was created:
HOW THE AWARD WINNING "FLAMENCO" MOVIE WAS CREATED
First some force from the above made Kathrin wrote THE SCRIPT.
- I'm pushed towards my paper and pen. Right now
I've got to start writing down my thoughts which are being pushed out of my mind onto my paper. Pushed by God. This strong white guiding light could have been my father after his death or an angel's force.
With the script we went to the television.
FLAMENCO AS DOCUMENTARY TV PROGRAMME
To its boss we presented Kathrin's documentary script about Ms. Mariah.
- At work they call me Flamenco, well my name's Mariah but they call me Flamenco. That's because I like Spanish music...
This highly poetic character of some fishing enterprise worker, who loves Flamenco music and dreams about going to Spain but can't afford it, Kathrin has totally MADE UP. And here we were now driving through the city with the television crew to talk to Ms. Mariah who in reality didn't exist at all...
- Turn here. And now turn there! - Kathrin bluffed, pretending she knew exactly where she was going.
- So how will you find Ms. Maria? - I asked Kathrin. I was the only person in the car who knew there was no fish & Flamenco fan. And I didn't believe that Kathrin was able to conjure her up out of the sky.
- Stop right here! - Kathrin made us get out in the harbour. On a small building there was a sign: "Rollmops" The Fishing Enterprise. As we walked inside we saw a woman's figure bending over a table with plenty of fish.
- My name is Mariah... - she introduced herself.
Her workplace stinked with herring. Because of this odour the camera crew weren't too eager to lay down their equipment.
Somewhat resistantly but still the real Mis Mariah agreed to star in our TV programme. She told to the camera the story about her late husband, low wages, the fishy odour of her hands and the terrible tiredness after work.
She also read out to the dictaphone some lines from Kathrin's script : 'At work they call me Flamenco...that's just because I like Spanish music' though she neither loved Flamenco nor intended to go Spain.
In the belief that we'll make a roaring success of our TV programme we went straight to the television studio with the just filmed material.
But in our way got an evasive & "too busy to compromise in time" editor. Perhaps he panicked that in our presence his incompetency might have become visible (Kathrin is a very demanding director) so in the end there was no edition at all. As a result, the TV programme about the real Ms. Mariah wasn't brought to daylight.
FLAMENCO AS SHORT NARRATION MOVIE
So Kathrin and I made ourselves the movie in which I played the part of Ms. Mariah and Kathrin took the shots. From the worker of "Rollmops" I borrowed a few real life ideas adding to them what Katrin's made up.
