Director Biography - Alessandra Drapos, Case Blackwell

Through the realms of acting, directing, and writing, Alessandra has made it her mission to tell the painful, stupid truths of humanity (which is something she thinks sounds very, very cool.)
At seventeen, she booked her first stand up gig in her hometown of Providence, RI.

Since then, Alessandra has performed stand up at NYC’s Broadway Comedy Club, HA!, and Gotham.
Then she decided to try to get serious and moved to London for a year. She wrote and performed Tea with Vivien alongside the Theatre Royal Stratford East's artistic director, Philip Hedley.
This one woman show, centered around the life of the late British actress, Vivien Leigh, made it’s way back to the U.S. where it was further developed with NY director Marlee Koenigsberg. It was then performed as part of the Estrogenius Festival at The Barrow Group Theatre in NY, the United Solo Festival, and was invited to the NY International Fringe Festival. Tea with Vivien is published in an anthology of plays by women.

Alessandra has received acclamation from the Planet Connections Festivity, NY, for best supporting actress in True False Theatre's 2013 production of Catch the Spider. The following summer, Planet Connections produced and nominated her one act Actresses and other Actresses.
Alessandra has a BFA in Theatre from Adelphi University and the London Dramatic Academy.
She now resides in Chicago, where she can be seen performing at the Annoyance Theatre, iO, and as part of a House Company at Second City.
