Tantalum Mass: The Last Hacker

Mag's respect for her uncle turns to awe when, at the urgent plea of the United Nations, his company develops an artificial intelligence named Dyrette to curb a crippling global internet hacking crisis. Her admiration changes to loathing, however, when she discovers he is secretly developing an implantable bio-metric wafer to take it a step further and "supervise" people using Dyrette. Choosing between family and fighting a web-tethered fate Mags recruits an off-grid group to oppose him.

Writer Statement

"Tantalum Mass sprang right out of the work I do as a tech attorney. What value do we have in life beyond our 'information' ? Where do we draw the sacred line of privacy? As the internet tsunami washes over us will it rob us of the right to find meaning for ourselves? In the face of increased monitoring and control are there any circumstances where hacking might be considered a good thing? "
