Private Project

Bad Black

Shot over 5 years in the slums of Wakaliga, Uganda with a budget of less than $65.

Bad Black is an action loves story about a hapless American doctor who, thanks to the training of an 8-year old Wesley Snipes, becomes the Ugandan Schwarzenegger. With very mixed results.

Part Karate Kid, part Women-in-Prison film, and all heart, Bad Black is an Audience Award-winning experience that reminds us why we love movies in the first place.

Director Biography - Nabwana IGG

Nabwana Isaac Godfrey Geoffrey (IGG) produces, directs, shoots, writes, and edits action films from his home in the slums of Wakaliga, Uganda. A self-taught filmmaker, he began filmmaking at age 32.

Based in the home he shares with his wife and co-editor, Harriet, and their three children. IGG has produced over 49 feature films since 2005 (as of Jan 2017) and is best-known for Who Killed Captain Alex: Uganda First Action-packed Movie. Trailers for IGG's work have gone viral, but the films themselves remain largely unseen outside the slums surrounding Kampala, Uganda.

"Wakaliwood" is a combination of Wakaliga, the slum IGG calls home, and Hollywood. Over the years, IGG has assembled a dedicated team of actors, technicians, prop masters, martial artists, and stunt people who have traveled from all parts of Uganda to be part of his action films.

Surprisingly, IGG Nabwana himself has never been to a movie theater.

Hailed as the Tarantino of Uganda, Ugandan Filmmaker Nabwana IGG burst on the world film Who Killed Captain Alex: Uganda's First Action Movie. Additional credits include Bukunja Tekunja Mitti: The Cannibals; Rescue Team; The Return of Uncle Benon; and a lost film, Tebaatusasula. Upcoming projects include Ugandan Ninja, Operation Kakongoliro: The Ugandan Expendables, Eaten Alive in Uganda, and Crazy World.

NOTE: Attached is the version of the film that won the Audience and Best Director (Action genre) Awards at Fantastic Fest. We say that because this screener includes a special Intro Video and jokes about Austin, Texas throughout the film.

If selected, we'd do the same for your festival - jokes about your town, local personalities, etc, plus a Welcome Video.

Thank You and SUPA ACTION!
