ColdWeather : The Ex & Brass Unbound live in Dubin

The Ex & Brass Unbound live in Dublin on last date of European Tour, February 2010 at The Button Factory.

A Concert Film: Produced & Directed by Daragh McCarthy
Edited by Ronan O'Muirgheasa. O.H.E.

In February 2010 Brass Unbound--which includes jazz heavy weights Mats Gustafsson, Ken Vandermark, Roy Paci and Wolter Wierbos--joined legendary Dutch experimental punks The Ex for a high octane European tour which culminated in an intense sell out show at the Button Factory in Dublin.

This film gives it every horn riff and guitar lick of their collaboration.

Director Statement

The combination of legendary Dutch experimental punks The Ex and alt-Jazz luminaries such as Ken Vandermark and Mats Gustafson was bound to be a piece of rarely if ever repeated musical history. When we heard they were doing a tour of Europe as a once off combination and playing in Dublin we pulled out all the stops to document this event. Favours were called in and favours were promised and we managed to shoot with 6 HD cameras to do justice to the show. The approach we took was to get our cameras right in to the thick of the stage action getting as much of the energy of this jazz/punk mix as possible down to tape as possible. A straight up concert film of a once off happening.
