Director Statement

Millennials think that the best years are ahead of them and are told their entire lives they can do and be anything.
Nate and E-Kan are two clear examples of that not happening.

Born Losers, a love child of Broad City and Always Sunny in Philadelphia, follows two misguided friends navigating life in Los Angeles one absurd moment to another. Despite their best efforts to get ahead, Nate, a pushover who bounces between dead end jobs and E-Kan, a slacker who works part-time as a medical test subject, are not good at many things- except making a bad situation worse.

We wanted to explore things in our personal lives and the world around us that scare us and make us laugh, often both. We take a closer look at everything from job-hunting to racism to paranoia of AI technology, and yes, the robots are going to kill us.

Inspired by Robert Rodriguez’s DIY attitude and not letting the limitations of self-financing get in our way, we shot this series entirely on iPhones and feel that captures the spirit of our series.

Born Losers is dedicated to the loser in all of us.
