The Necklace

Aninha, future poet and sweetwoman Cora Coralina, is a fragile and awkward girl. She finds in the game of hopscotch a means of overcoming her own limits and, in her imagination, an escape from the environment in which she lives. His childhood is remembered in adulthood for his affective and tragic connection with the willow plate, the last of a ninety-two-piece collection of his great-grandmother Antonia.

This film is a free adaptation of a poem of poet Cora Coralina, one of the most important Brazilian poets. It is a portrait of Brazil in the decade of 1890 and part of a universal story of a child who is punished unfairly by breaking a plate and is punished having to carry a necklace with a shard of crockery. He is told by the main character, who recalls his childhood, from the story of a Chinese dish that came to Brazil. In England, in 1780, Thomas Milton created a standard English this dish known as "willow plate." It was created a myth around the story drawn on the plate on a Chinese princess who escapes with a poor young man, against the will of his father, who wanted to marry her with a mandarin. The myth came to Brazil and the character imagined possible solutions to the fugitive couple. When it appears broken, it is as if the story was over. A metaphor in the film, as if disassociate the light of the film before the story ends.
