Lucid Media has created this episodic documentary about the strong community opposition to the proposed 330 mile, 42" Mountain Valley Pipeline coming from West Virginia through Virginia's New River Valley on it's way to the Transco transmission pipeline in Pittsylvania, VA.

Marino Colmano was born in Bologna, Italy. He was awarded a Full Scholarship by the San Francisco Art Institute and graduated in 1972 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Photography and Film. He then established a successful still photography studio focusing on magazine editorial and advertising assignments.
In the late seventies he produced and directed STRAIGHT TIME: HE WROTE IT FOR CRIMINALS, an award-winning documentary about the making of a Dustin Hoffman feature; and directed THE RATING GAME, an award-winning documentary about the structure of the television industry. These accomplishments prompted a move to Hollywood.
Marino’s company LUCID MEDIA has been operating as an entertainment packaging and production company under various banners since 1980 in Los Angeles.
Marino produced and co-directed the photography of a bitter-sweet musical drama End of the Rainbow, starring celebrated jazz musician RAY PIZZI and distributed theatrically by 20TH Century Fox. The winner of six first-place International Film Festival Awards including from MANNHEIM, GERMANY, CHICAGO and CRACOW, POLAND, it opened to rave reviews and has been cable-cast by all the major cable networks including the Arts & Entertainment Network and broadcast in ten foreign countries.
Marino directed, photographed and edited a feature documentary entitled RESERVOIRS OF STRENGTH, celebrating the strength of the human spirit and the effect of love on the recovery of people who have been severely burned. It has been broadcast in four countries internationally and has garnered ten awards including a GOLD APPLE, a GOLD CINDY and a SILVER AWARD from the Houston International Film Festival and Finalist in The Media Access Awards.
Marino is the recipient of 43 International Film Festival Awards, and received a Telly Award for direction and cinematography on his People Helping People commercial campaign for METROMEDIA and another Telly for SAN DIEGO TRANSIT, NO FUSS BUS. He then produced and photographed a major promotional campaign for the re-release of 20th Century Fox’s original BATMAN television series. Marino’s clients, Universal Pictures, MCA-TV, Castle Rock, and Twentieth Century Fox, have contracted live action promotional spots and national commercials promoting SNATCH, RETURN TO ME, OCTOBER SKY, WATER WORLD, JUNIOR, CARLITO’S WAY, SCENT OF A WOMAN, LORENZO’S OIL, DANCES WITH WOLVES, Mr. Baseball and BACKDRAFT, to name a few. Promo packages have been completed for LAST CALL (Brandon Tartikoff’s talk show for MCA-TV), THE GORDON ELLIOTT SHOW, THE CHEVY CHASE SHOW, M*A*S*H, THE SIMPSONS, STUDS, THE BERTICE BERRY SHOW (Fox), MR. BASEBALL.(Univ.), and PERSONAL JUSTICE (New Line Cinema). Marino line produced and photographed the inspirational promotional film HEAR NO EVIL for the National Conference of Christians & Jews featuring Angela Lansbury as the spokeswoman.
Other noteworthy credits include director of photography on THE FANTASY WORLDS OF IRWIN ALLEN for the SCI-FI Channel; various A&E BIOGRAPHY episodes; the Aegis Award winning DANGER ZONE, a 68 minute self-defense & self-awareness cardiovascular video course for women directed and produced by Marino; and the 1999 release of COLD FUSION: Fire From Water about a revolutionary energy source, for which Marino served as Director of Photography. During 2000-01 Marino provided interstitial programming for 34 episodes of Oxygen Network’s AS SHE SEES IT.
In 2005-6 he was producer on a groundbreaking, 13 episode marital wellness series for eHarmony.com using multiple Varicam HD cameras.
Marino’s technical expertise, creative vision, and talent are all essential elements in effective filmmaking. He is a veteran of hundreds of productions: dramatic films, commercials, studio promotionals, documentaries, and educational projects. Marino now lives in Arkoudi, Greece where Lucid Media is still producing art photography, portfolios, website design and various client media productions. Currently in production is an Episodic Documentary series called PIPELINE. Twenty-one episodes have been released online all in Hi-def quality. PIPELINE is an Episodic documentary series devoted to creating awareness, and a call to action, with emotionally charged content. It is produced and directed by Marino Colmano, recipient of 38 International Film Festival Awards spanning a 50 year career, with 30 years as a Hollywood professional. Colmano served as Cinematographer and Editor to the production. Freda Ascot created a moving and memorable narration. The original music score features many regional musicians, among them are
the notable, The Commons, Michael Kovick and Windfall, both of Floyd County, VA and Kat Mills of Blacksburg, VA. The entire series is self funded with partial help via a GoFundMe campaign and donations.
By the end of our second year (Dec. 2016) we had 27 Episodes in the PIPELINE DOCUMENTARY SERIES which includes 3 Trailers, 18 PSAs, and half a dozen side bar movies, concerts and a music video are online.
Our guest appearances include Jane Kleeb, instrumental in stopping the Keystone XL Pipeline, provides a backbone to PIPELINE FIGHTERS. She passionately ties together the issues, citizen’s reactions and finally the solutions that have inspired a continuing Pipeline Fighters movement.
Lorne Stockman, of Oil Change International, a watch dog organization that exposes the real cost of fossil fuels and helps the transition to clean energy, provides a strong voice of reason and real data about what our dependency on fossil fuels is doing to our planet.
Mekasi Camp-Horinek, a protest coordinator for Standing Rock in N.D. also plays a prominent role in explaining what the Tribes are doing. He and his mother both were arrested recently while conducting a peaceful protest.
The Appalachian basin, second only to the Amazon in Biodiversity, is now the key source for the continued expansion of natural gas through hydraulic fracturing. There are 19 pending Pipeline projects for the region that if built, will lock the nation into unsustainable levels of production.
This feature version is now international distribution as a 103 minute feature entitled PIPELINE FIGHTERS. It has picked up three awards. Furthermore SACRIFICIAL RESOURCE ZONE is a 90 minute feature set entirely in West Virginia. In a heartfelt and intimate portrait style the film showcases the voices of it's citizens. TECHNICAL SPECS:
The production was accomplished using a pair of identical Nikon D750 in tandem when needed at 1080p, 24 fps in 16X9 format. It was edited in Final Cut Pro X on a iMac 27” Retina Screen. Post production sound engineering was accomplished by Earl Norris of Four Loud Barks Studio, in Blacksburg, VA.
