I grew up in Pico Rivera, CA, in a family that loved music and movies. At the age of 8 years old I received my first instrument: a beginners Spanish, nylon string, guitar. This began my journey to, not only, create music, but also sound. After watching Backto the Future tons of times with my dad I realized how important sound and music were to film, and upon viewing the film TheCrow, I realized I wanted to make movies".
Richard started writing for the website Trulydisturbing.com in 2013, which led to the creation of my podcast Disturbing Talks. Through this podcast and the website he was able to meet with various people in the horror community, and eventually, in 2015, started working on film as a location sound mixer. Last year, he had the opportunity to complete location sound for several films, as well as being allowed to work post sound design, foley, and composing original scores. In July 2016, He formed the production company SafetyMeeting Productions — with co-producer Alex Napiwocki — in which they produced two films within the conceptual year (Drunk Zombies, Passing the Stone). Drunk Zombies won two awards at Zedfest film festival, and Passing the Stone was my first time writing and directing, and is scheduled to come out towards the end of December 2016.
The best thing about working in film is not only that I’m doing what I love, but that I get to meet/work with some of the most positive and talented people imaginable.
