The Ash

Mehmet Kayın is 86 years old. He immigrated from Balıkesir and he lives in Gökdere village, İzmir. He hasn’t left the village for many years. He has an ordinary and peaceful life. His memories about the city and the world is became old. He hasn’t used any communication tools including television except newspapers. Newspapers, especially the third page news, determine his view of the world and he describes the world according to newspapers. He collects the newspapers and they have a special meaning to him. Finally, the world is terrifying for the Grandpa Mehmet.

Director Biography - Mehmet Kayın

Mehmet Kayın was born in İzmir, Turkey, in 1992. After he finished high school, he left İzmir. He is studying in Faculty of Communication Sciences in Anadolu University. His department is Communication Design and Management. He is interested in cinema since his childhood. He is continuing his works on documentary filming. The documentary that named as ‘’The Ash’’ was his first work.
