MISSED CONNECTIONS
MISSED CONNECTIONS is a 3-D history of trains in an old Thai town, wrapped up in a personal narrative of the last man living who worked there.
Using 3-D effects, the film tells the story of Mr. Rodpon and his beloved train station. He's now 80, but in his youth he worked on the steam trains which ran up and down the Thai Southern Line. The train station he’s at was the center of town - and of his life. in 1978, when train service to Mr. Rodpon’s town was stopped, his job was made redundant. Now, he stands looking out over the rusty train tracks, with a kind of bittersweet feeling in his face. He unlocks a door and we depart on a short journey through memories - of parcels and tickets, of a suicide, everyday kids going to school, even a public execution. Mr. Rodpon looks back at life at Songkhla’s old train station, knowing his final stop is near. “These rails are like me and my pa’s life. Generations pass through,” he says, hinting that you and I are next.
