Freeing the Tanker Mary A. Whalen

With rare & gracious permission by Port Authority of NY/NJ in a letter saying, "Jonathan Atkin" is a "known entity" as well as Downtown Manhattan Heliport informing all helicopter ops in the area,, Atkin Drone Team filmed the historic move of the 78 year old coastal Tanker Mary A. Whalen into her new berth, in the Atlantic Basin, Red Hook, (Brooklyn,) NYC. The vessel is the home of the forward thinking PortSideNewYork.org bringing relevancy to the urban waterfront. Filmed with Jonathan Atkin "Pilot in Command" and Cameramen, Bryson Jenkins and Ben Wolf operating the Inspire camera and alternately "spotting." A first for the Atkin Drone Team.

The ship was for years, at a waterfront berth, restricted in access to the public. PortSideNewYork received permission to berth the vessel in a public part of the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal and the Mary A. Whalen was free. The video shot totally with an Inspire 1, documents her transit from her old berth to her new public access space in the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal port.
