Elena Zaretsky attributes the edge in her writing to her Russian immigrant background, and her blind New Age optimism to her sunny SoCal upbringing: kinda like Dostoyevsky on lithium.
Her early acting career ran the gamut of New York Theatre, TV, Indie Film, Sketch, and she was fortunate enough to use her extensive Improv skills in the MocaTV web series Ambiance Man alongside Fred Armisen.
Once she turned her focus to writing, Elena has been a two-time finalists for the Warner Brothers Writing Workshop, and a Semi-Finalist for the ABC/Disney TV Writing Fellowship. She has experience developing with a production company, and has worked as a writer-for-hire for the Hallmark Channel and various independent producers.
When asked what draws me to the world of television writing, I’m instantly transported to the past. I can see myself as a child, sitting breathless on our family’s shag rug as the Angels (Kelly, Kris and Sabrina) solved another of Charlie’s mysteries. This was how I learned to speak the English language.
I write daily. It is my love and my passion. If I were to be accepted to this program, I’d
be convinced the Angels were on my side. Charlie too.
