Experiencing Interruptions?

They left

The Dutch documentary maker Mattijs Peters takes his audience with him on a personal journey to the history of his grandparents. At the end of the 1940’s his grandparents had to decide to leave their home country and birthplace, the former Dutch-Indies, after the declaration of independence.
In this documentary Peters also returns to the places as described by his grandmother. Since he was a little kid, Peters was fascinated by the history of his Indonesian grandparents. “When we talked about history at high school, we always talked about the history of the Netherlands. But my history is also the history of Indonesia. That is what I want to show with this documentary.”
