Running

RUNNING is a short narrative film which tells a story about a 13 years old girl, SEGUA. SEGUA’s desire of attaining greatness in life compels her to fight against her parents who are forcing her into MARRIAGE. SEGUA is to be married to a 56 years old man EGYA MANU. Step FATHER, ATO AMISSAH is bent on making sure SEGUA is married to this rich man in order to redeem the family from poverty. SEGUA, on countless occasions has witnessed the sufferings and torture teenage wives go through in the community. This makes her afraid. SEGUA can't bring herself into accepting marriage at an age where she's still in school and wishes to complete. SEGUA runs away from the house. Her step father angrily orders his two sons to pursue SEGUA and brings her back home at ALL COST. The brothers eventually catch up with SEGUA at a point SEGUA can’t run any further.

Director Biography - Jumic Emma Anderson

A film director, screenwriter, and an acting-coach by profession, Jumic Emma Anderson is a multiple-award-winning filmmaker and an African Movie Academy Award Nominee.
Founder and Creative Director of Jumicon Pictures, an independent film and television company.

Jumic mainly uses his films to address children's rights themes, leveraging his background as a child's rights advocate. He also follows and projects the business of green and sustainable local businesses that positively affect the environment and the world.
