Director Biography - Davide Luchino, Federico Maiocco, Margherita Monti

Luchino Davide was born and raised in Italy. He studied history and critique of cinema in Torino and worked for TV and cinema between Torino and Rome.
Carmine is his first short indipendent film, an ironic story about technology and human being. Carmine was awarded as best short film at the 2013 Torino Film Festival, for the Spazio Torino section.
Luchino is currently developing his first debut feature screenplay.

Director Statement

“Ara nasce dalla volontà di riflettere sul rapporto tra l’uomo e le nuove tecnologie: in una società come quella attuale, in cui siamo bombardati di notizie di seconda mano, costantemente e freneticamente connessi al mondo, risulta ancora più difficile che in passato fidarci delle nostre intuizioni più profonde e stabilire una relazione autentica con chi ci sta accanto. Siamo votati all’esterno e trascuriamo la nostra interiorità. La trama di Ara è un pretesto per capovolgere questa situazione e ipotizzare un futuro in cui il contatto umano torni ad essere la cosa più preziosa. Il protagonista è posto con le spalle al muro e il rapporto con la voce misteriosa di Ara lo spinge verso un percorso di consapevolezza interiore.”
