Puccini by William Friedkin
Giacomo Puccini was an Italian opera composer who has been called "the greatest composer of Italian opera after Verdi". Puccini was born Giacomo Antonio Domenico Michele Secondo Maria Puccini in Lucca in Tuscany, in 1858. The “Puccini by William Friedkin” documentary, produced by the Lucca Film Festival & Europa Cinema and the Fondazione Giacomo Puccini, made by the Lucca-based film production company Kalispéra, narrates the intense passion and profound love of director William Friedkin for the opera maestro from Lucca. The American director traced some of the most significant places in the life and works of Puccini, such as the Teatro del Giglio and the Lucca Cathedral, discovering their every secret, giving the documentary the energy and power that made it into a unique, must-watch film. One maestro meets the other and Lucca is the privileged place of this magical meeting.
