THE START
My life started in Holland in 1938.
I took A levels and had jobs as an unskilled worker: as a clerk, in a factory, as a cleaner, an agricultural worker, an errand boy and what not. Jobs were plenty in those days. I also had a tourist shop and an art gallery. All that took place in Holland, Sweden and Spain.
LIFE AS A SOCIOLOGIST
I got my degree as a sociologist at Copenhagen University in 1975.
Teaching was my main activity in those years. That was at the school for social workers, and the superstructure of specialized pedagogical studies and some shorter jobs at two universities.
Along with the teaching, I did a lot of research and project counselling and wrote lots of different texts.
During the five years as an equal opportunity consultant at the Job Center, I organized projects, started a newsletter, made lots of speeches and trained employees.
A period of unemployment opened a chance to study at the senior level a Copenhagen Business School.
And last-but-not-least, along with jobs and study, I took part in various types of organizational work: committees, boards, commissions and as a grass root.
This was the busy period of my life. I also had two daughters with a healthy appetite for just about anything.
LIFE AS A SCREENWRITER
In 2002 so called modernization at the university opened a chance to start a new life. A generous compensation for getting rid of me, allowed me to train as a screen writer.
Starting with the basics, continuing at a professional level and ending with post graduate seminars and masterclasses, I was ‘dressed’ to go ahead. My academic background helped me doing research for the stories I want to tell. My interest in social issues now finds its way into my stories.
Acclaimed counselors helped me develop my voice and live up to the tough demands of the industry. That paid off: my scripts won awards and nominations.
Right now I have two scripts ready for production: BITTER BEANS with 4 awards and 4 nominations and A FATAL CURE, with 1 award and 1 nomination; and two scripts in development.
