Ted Smith

Tim decides to make a documentary about his childhood friend Ted Smith (who is now a huge star.) He invites his friend Sam round to his house to reminisce on camera with stories of their friendship and Ted Smith. However, as the interview continues it’s clear something is not right. Tim is holding forth with tales of the past and Sam isn’t quite sure he can remember them or indeed give a description of Ted. Before Sam can escape Tim confronts him with the question: “Do you know who Ted Smith is?” Sam has to admit he has no idea and leaves the house. Their friendship has been built on a lie which leaves Tim feeling humiliated and without a purpose. There is no Ted Smith. Sam then comes back with chocolate digestives as a peace offering. He doesn’t want to lose the connection they had even if it was about a fake person. Tim invites him in.
