Ang Xie is a self-taught filmmaker who also has an international business MBA under his belt. Ang has a bachelors degree in Biology from UC Irvine with an emphasis in pre-med, but he chose not to pursue a career in medicine because his true passion lies in filmmaking. He got his foot in the door when legendary Hong Kong cinematographer Derek Wan (Fist of Legend) took him under his wing and mentored him. In 2009, he enrolled in Loyola Marymount University's MBA program and quickly excelled in marketing, winning the CTAM West Cable's Apprentice Marketing Competition in the same year. Over the years with his aptitude in visual storytelling and marketing, he founded Wayfare Films, which has created video advertising content for numerous brands such as Visit California, Unscriptd, and Nestle. He has a knack for adapting to new filmmaking technology and tools, and he was one of the first filmmakers to create a sci-fi short with the Google Glass shortly after its release.
