Everything happens for a reason. This is personified by how Nick Friend ended up discovering his love for film. After accidentally signing up for a documentary film class in college, Nick decided to jump in with both feet and embrace what, at the time, was a deep interest in film. It later turned into a passion and a love of the art-form and Nick never looked back. In 2012, he started FriendFilms and his drive led him to work on a number of different productions, ranging from independently produced short documentaries to huge summer blockbusters.
Nick’s work has taken him from major metropolitan cities to tiny corners of the country. He has travelled through urban South America and trekked through rural Louisiana swamps, always searching for the most authentic footage he can find. Nick has worked with VICE, The Discovery Channel, and HBO, collaborated with local actors and comedians, and filmed alongside his own brother for their personal venture, The Moving Portraits Project.
A textbook Leo, Nick has a contagious energy and is truly passionate about what he creates. Outside of film, Nick is a writer, a photographer, a movie-lover, and really enjoys making a mess in the kitchen. When he’s not behind the lens, Nick loves to spend time at home and abroad with his lovely girlfriend.
