Director Biography - FILIPPO CAMPO, ROBERTO CAMPO

Filippo Campo spent years with Galafilm, one of Canada’s most distinguished film and television production companies. At Galafilm, Filippo worked closely with the president, vice-president of finance, and executive producers, building on his business education and previous film experience.
While earning a diploma with distinction in Business Administration at HEC Montreal (associated with Harvard Business School), Filippo also began writing his first feature film. In 2000, his script won him a SODEC scholarship under the Young Artists Program.
Filippo now works in the film industry as an independent writer, director, and producer. As a freelancer, his portfolio includes documentaries, television programming, food shows, animation, commercials, and features films. Among his projects, Filippo produced the program Secrets of Montréal – Cultural Gems (1 x 30 min), which was nominated for the Canadian Screen Awards TV 2013 in the category “Best Photography in a Variety or Performing Arts or Sketch Comedy Program or Series.” The program aired on CBC Television, where Filippo also consulted for the program Summer Series. He produced and co-directed a commercial for renowned Montreal designer Marie Saint Pierre. He also wrote and directed French coverage for the Radio-Canada TV daily show Des Kiwis et des hommes. In Italian, Filippo produced, wrote, and co-directed the documentary Dominique Corti – Un cammino per la vita, which will be submitted to festivals worldwide and will air on TLN Television in 2017.
Filippo works in four languages: English, French, Italian, and Spanish. He is currently producing a Spanish documentary 180 grados al Norte for TLN Television and an animation series All You Need Is Balls. He is developing three features films, all focusing on true, untold African stories, including a film about Dr. Matthew, the leader of one of the world’s first major fights against Ebola.

Passionate about filmmaking, Roberto Campo has worked on many short commercials and videos, including Secrets of Montréal – Cultural Gems and a short fashion film for Montreal designer Marie Saint Pierre.
Roberto is very close to his Italian roots, so he was thrilled to collaborate as co-director, director of photography, and editor of the recent Italo-Canadian documentary, Dominique Corti: Un Cammino per la Vita.
Roberto is currently involved with the research, development, and writing consultation for several new projects.

Dominique’s story focuses on the human aspect of her situation. Her vulnerable attempt to cope with immense social pressure is exactly the inspiring type of story that we need to tell. Stories about courage, finding meaning and human connection is what drives us to make films. Another important aspect of filmmaking is teamwork. Tackling complex subjects and trying to simplify them for the general public means that we need to be supported by a strong and diversified team of passionate and talented individuals.
