When I think of the word Latino, I think of music, art, fashion, food, love, family, passion, wildlife, the hot sun, and the crystal clear blue ocean. When I watch Latino films, most of the time I am always exposed to themes of violence, gangs, and the portrayal of poverty. I am someone who is very culturally aware and I know that there is more beauty in Latino culture. I would love to see Latino films portray a mix of fantasy and realism perhaps set in the Amazon, featuring a thriller of wild animals and magical adventures. This is the reason behind my poster design. I have digitally hand drawn the wild butterfly, incorporating subliminal patterns that reflect Latino design and culture. It is almost as though, the butterfly is rising to new beginnings in the wonderful world of Latino film.
