This film is my first and was originally developed for my granddaughter so I could leave her a small legacy of never giving up in life when you are trying to reach your goals. As the film grew, I realized I was making it for the children of all ages and in any country to see. MeeGGo's journey is one of struggle, inner struggle and determination to fight when things are hard and times are tough when you are fighting for what you believe in. This Metaphor is a simple one here as it is MeeGGo's shell. He needs to break free. His colony is content to live in their own shell. But MeeGGo, as we want for all our children, wants more. So he fight to break free. Small battles fail so MeeGGo moves on to fight bigger and bigger battles without success and avoiding danger along the way. MeeGGo realizes that only climbing the biggest mountain will be the key to his/her success. But the journey is long and tiresome and thoughts of quiting enter MeeGGo's mind until the final steps of the mountaintop are in sight; but there is but one more final step; one dangerous but courageous step to take to break free from this shell that encapsulates his/her being. Then . . .
MaryAnne Radmacher, a popular U.S. writer was kind enough to loan me one of her quotes for my film who thought the film was "Adorable, Full of Smiles, Inspiration, Engaging, Instructive..." . Ms. Radmacher's quote comes after "The End" and is intended as a visual aide ;) for the adults in the adults when discussing the film with their children. The quote really sums up the meaning of the film and to aide in the explanation to the children because MeeGGo's last jump to crack his egg represents a leap forward into life. Taking that "leap of faith":
"The jump is so frightening between where I am and where I want to be. Because of all I may become, I will close my eyes, and leap."
Maryanne Radmacher
A child must have faith in their future but we must be there to aide them with their leap of faith. I hope you enjoy Crack'd. If you are a teacher or principal, I will try to make myself available for presentations to your school.
Respectfully,
Sebastian Brown
