Director Biography - Courtney Brown

Born in a little country town in New South Wales, Australia, she moved to the big smog to pursue her dream of filmmaking. In December 2015, Courtney (20) graduated from the International Film School Sydney with an Advanced Diploma in Screen & Media Studies. During her studies she has written, directed and produced 5 short films as well as working on 30 other short films during her studies.

Courtney's first film festival project was a comedy, mockumentry web series about a group that is like alcoholics anonymous, but instead of having issues with alcohol they have issues with tv shows. 'Shipping Anonymous' did well at festivals, screening at Sidewalk Film Festival, Sydney Indie Film Festival, Maverick Movie Awards, Super Geek Film Festival, Phoenix Comicon Film Festival and Art All Night Trenton. Shippers was nominated for best Ensemble Performance and won Best Web Pilot at Maverick Movie Awards.

Courtney was also a part of the very successful web series 'A Shared House' and was Assistant Director for both season 1 and 2. Shared House was accepted at La Web Fest, Miami Web Fest, NYC Web Fest and Long Beach Indie International Film Festival in 2016.

In 2016 Courtney had the opportunity to work with Essential Media and Two Dogs TV on two Australian Television Shows: "Todd Sampson's Body Hack" and "Living Universe". She was also Assistant Director on "Lasting Traces" with Silver Fox Motion Pictures and a production assistant on the feature film "Innocent Killer"

Courtney is avid feature film enthusiast, having written three feature film scripts in 2016 and is currently working on a new one right now. She will be developing one of those scripts further to be directed by her in Australia in 2018.

Director Statement

'Ninety Nine’ is a massive passion project for me, it’s one of the main reasons I have been pursuing a career in the film industry. In 2010 I was deeply impact by the true accounts that were being shared from the A21 Organisation.

A21 has been rescuing and rehabilitating human traffick victims. They have also been helping prosecuting the people that have been trafficking these people.

My dream is to one day make a feature film about the organisation from conception of the organisation to their first court case and in doing I hope that I will one day be able to help with spreading awareness and encouraging people to help where they can.
