"Final Notice" started as the seed of an idea that was planted in my brain while reviewing my monthly credit card statement. I noticed a small charge that I didn't make. I went back and reviewed earlier statements for the same card and notice that same charge was on all of them. I had not noticed it before because the charge was so small. But it added up. At about that same time I started looking at my bundled Verizon bill that included my internet, television service, and two cell phones. I saw all of these charges that I really didn't know what they were. They were small, but they added up over time. Turns out I was paying for things I had not asked for. And I was going to keep paying until I questioned them. It is also amazing how many pieces of mail that come to our homes disguised as over due bills marked marked "Final Notice". I decided it would be fun to just write a script and do a short, warn people of these legal scams that are running every day. Our script won second place in the Baltimore Screen Writers competition that year. I remember getting some coverage and one note was that people are not that stupid to just pay bills for things that they didn't pay for. A month after I got that note the FBI arrested 400 people in the Chicago area over a third party credit card billing scam. They got away with it for years because the amounts were so small, no one noticed it. They just paid. Vindication! so we shot the short. It was my first film and we had a bit of fun with it. I learned a lot, especially about licensing music. Nothing like having to have a chart topping song from the 60's to garner an education. I hope you enjoy 'Final Notice'
