In Everyone's Eyes - El último!
Will life in Cuba ever change? A smiling narrator slyly hides his counter-Revolutionary message in plain sight... by singing it! This mirrors real life in Cuba. Since the 1959 Revolution Cubans have learned to hide their thoughts of dissent for fear of punishment by the State - including job loss, beatings, detention and prison. Filmed entirely in Cuba.

Lloyd Frost is an award-winning Canadian filmmaker and singer/songwriter. His short films blend narrative and documentary genres. Themes have included authoritarian regimes - both past and present - and living with terrorism attacks. He presents his stories in a mostly gentle style.
His multiple award-winning 2013 film 'In Everyone's Eyes (en todas las miradas)' and the more pointed director’s cut 'In Everyone's Eyes – El ultimo! (2018) are poetic, slyly subversive looks at free speech and human rights in Cuba. 'The Sun Is Rising' (2015) asks if there is a key to talking about terrorism attacks. His latest film, set in East Berlin during the time of the Berlin Wall and the repressive STASI is 'The Berlin Waltz' (2022).
Frost's debut album ‘The Sun Is Rising & Other True Stories’ (2015) with genre-crossing, quirky tracks was released with a live performance at SAW Gallery, Ottawa and an exhibit of his film-related images at Vistek.
“Give me absolute control / over every living soul” (The Future by Leonard Cohen) describes half the story of an authoritarian State. I’m also interested in how people cope when their thoughts or actions can lead to calamity.
For generations the Cuban people have experienced almost complete control following the 1958 Revolution, first submitting to the iron wills of Fidel and Raul Castro, and presently Diaz-Canel. Dissent is dealt with swiftly by beatings, detention or prison. Even musicians have been prohibited from performing in public after expressing views that are contrary to the Communist Party of Cuba.
