A cold rainy April evening in Munich, Germany, 1919. A wounded WWI corporal and self-taught public speaker arrives in Munich with political ambitions. But Adolf is in definite need of sartorial advice. Members of Munich’s wealthiest Social Elite are charmed. They decide to lend a hand in giving this young man some much needed style and polish.

CHARLES LEIPART (Writer) Awards: 2016 Tennessee Williams/New Orleans Literary Festival, 1st Prize One-Act Play, Cream Cakes in Munich. 2015 Arch and Bruce Brown Foundation LGBT Playwrighting Award for A Kind of Marriage. His social comedy, Chez Rikers, was selected for the 2012 Telluride Playwrights’ Festival. His portrait of Pamela Harriman, Swimming at the Ritz, originally developed with award-winning BBC director David Giles, began a UK National Tour in March 2011 supported by the Arts Council England; American premiere at the New Jersey Repertory Co, Jan 2015. Charles’ adaptation of Helene Hanff’s comic memoir, Underfoot in Show Business, received its world premiere at the Devonshire Park Theatre in Eastbourne, UK, May 2008, directed by David Giles. Awards: The Kleban Foundation Award for Librettist. Three-time Finalist for the Fred Ebb Award in Songwriting. Winner of the Global Search for New Musicals, Cardiff, Wales, 2005 (Frog Kiss). Musicals include: Me and Miss Monroe, Frog Kiss, The Showgirl of 52nd Street. Charles is a former Fellow of the Edward F. Albee Foundation and a graduate of Northwestern University.
