Experiencing Interruptions?

Bombshells and Dollies

A feature length documentary about contemporary pinup girl culture - women who emulate a style and presentation popular in the 40's & 50's - of hair, makeup and vintage clothes. However rather than living in the past, these women are able to pick and choose the styles and values from both then and now. We document the Miss Las Vegas Pinup Contest, the largest and most heralded pinup contest the world held annually at Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekend attended by over 25,000 fans of Rockabilly music, classic cars, and all things vintage. Uniquely, this contest judges as much on inner beauty as outer beauty. Each of the 12 finalists from around the world is engaged in social or charitable work in their communities back home. This empowering doc encourages every woman to express herself with style, glamour and self-confidence, and champions freedom of self expression, self respect and total body acceptance no matter what shape or size, celebrating every woman's right to be gorgeous!

Director Statement

Dan makes commercial projects that also make a difference, and he doesn't see any reason why they can't do both. This is the same position Dan expresses in his position as Co-chair of Diversity and Inclusion at the Producers Guild of America (PGA). Bombshells and Dollies is at once a look into the unique world of a "retro" movement, yet it is also empowers women to find the freedom to unshackle themselves from societal norms and express themselves in whatever fashion they see fit.
