Biyabaan – The Curse by Women
Extreme Entertainment’s Biyaba Pankaj Subeer – The Curse by Women, is a movie directed by Krishna Kant Pandya, of Panaah&Bedardi fame and based onr’s International Award Winning Short Story – Do Ekant.
Biyabaan, The Curse By Women, is the story of the isolation that men will be left with when there will be no women. In a world where a practice like female foeticide has been going on for generations, there comes a generation that hasn’t seen a woman - neither as a mother, nor sister, nor wife. It is the story of that generation and of their frustrations and desperations. A grandfather and a grandson are living a lonely life with each other. On one hand is the grandfather’s realization and fear that his grandson is living an incomplete life and on the other, the grandson’s hidden search for one glimpse of a woman, the better half of man. And what happens when he gets that one glimpse, when a woman does come in their life. Biyaaban is the story of the desolate house inhabited by two men and the repercussions, both good and bad, when a woman brings life in that house. A story that resonates with the pain, pathos, fear and darkness that gender biased practices can bring along in the long term.

Hardworking and immensely talented, Krishna Kant Pandya has been an achiever ever since he ventured into the Film Industry. As a young adult, when he moved from Udaipur to Mumbai along with his father, he realized he wouldn’t do an ordinary job in the City of Dreams; leaving Udaipur had to be worth it and he did exactly that. With absolutely no background whatsoever but sheer passion for Cinema, he jumped into it with the determination to achieve. From learning Editing to assisting an A-league film maker to finally becoming the Director of a Hindi Feature Film in an industry thronged with Bollywood Families, Krishna Kant created a space for himself.
As an assistant Editor, film-makers approached him to join them as their assistants and he chose to begin that journey under Esmayeel Shroff for a movie that brought together film stars Rajesh Khanna and ShabanaAzmi for the first time on Silver Screen – Thodi Si Bewafai. All the reigning Heroes and Heroines of then Bollywood with whom he worked during his tenure as an assistant and associate director appreciated his work, so much so that veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah gave a go ahead to act in his debut movie even before reading the script. The fact that legendary actor Mr. Pran worked with a newcomer speaks volumes about Krishna Kant Pandya’s hold over his craft. Little wonder then that his Directorial Debut Panaah was appreciated for all aspects of Direction winning him great reviews, recognition and awards.
An ardent reader and lover of World literature, Krishna Kant Pandya, has worked with music maestros and renowned lyricists like R.D.Burman, Khayyam, Laxmikant-Pyarelal, Anand-Milind, Kalyanji-Anandji, Gulzar, MajroohSultanpuri, Pt. Vishweshwar Sharmaamong others.
For the modest director, however, his greatest achievement was a print review comparing the sensibility of his debut movie Panaah to that of his idol and one of the finest film-makers of India, V.Shantaram. Back home he felt content that his family and his City – Udaipur, are proud of him.
Apart from movies, today he has directed for Television and entertained many with shows like Prithvi Raj Chauhan, Chittod Ki Rani Padmini and Jai Shri Krishna. The perfectionist aims to keep Directing till his last breadth.
Hi,
This is the Editor,Screenplay writer& Director of Hindi(Indian) film BIYABAAN-The curse by women.
Its my request that at-least watch it again &follow the content proper, which says about repercussions of female foeticide.
The Director's note says-"Director’s Note:
"Through four characters, four generations and a single house, Biyabaan – The curse by women, attempts to narrate the pathos of the entire human race and it’s impending doom."
I assure that the film will not let your festival's prestige down.
Thanks.
