The power of citizen leadership
In “The Power of Citizen Leadership“ Flore Dussey, a journalist from Valais, Switzerland, invites you to plunge into the world of the American Far West through a series of juxtaposed portraits of community leaders; people who work wholeheartedly for the betterment of their community.
The documentary compares several personalities from both the rural and indigenous worlds of Montana. You will discover Claudia who encourages the people of Montana to “Buy, grow and eat local!", and Michael who provides books for each family who comes to his Food Bank so that even those most disadvantaged have access to the world of culture. The film“ also presents incredible testimonies from the hearts of several members of the Blackfeet and Crow tribes working to revive their anscestral languages; we are also reminded of the reality of the cultural genocide that has plagued the Amerindians for generations. You will vibrate to the rythm of an Indian Pow Wow and the sounds of country music during the July 4th, Independence Day, celebrations.
On December 10, 2016, Flore Dussey received the prize for Best Short Foreign Documentary at the Hollyood International Independant Documentary Awards in Los Angeles.
