Director Statement

My parents fled the war in Lebanon during the 80s, to move to Sweden, a safer place. Because of that, I was born and raised in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden. Swedish is my nationality. Swedish is my first language. However, people in Sweden often ask me: Where are you from? They say: You’re not Swedish enough. Sometimes I don’t blame them. And then, they’re people that tell me: Go back to your home country! In Lebanon, I fit in physically, but many signs around me screams that I’m just another tourist. So where exactly is my home country? This is something common that many people around the world feel and have to deal with. Do we belong somewhere? Or are we simply forever displaced?
