Luqman Sheikh Ghazali is a 22 year old film graduate of the MMU Cinematic Arts Programme. His passions lie primarily with the humanitarian and social issues of the Muslim people, having done media coverage for NGOs such as Carefugees, Muslim Professionals Forum and Peace Meal. He was chosen by FINAS to participate in the Next New Wave 2015 filmmaking workshop as a director of his production group, where he was taught by international professionals in the film industry throughout the South East Asia region.
Luqman’s skills are predominantly writing and directing, having worked on an array short films, music videos and documentaries. Among his best work is the tear-jerking documentary ‘Seeking Shade’ about the plight of a Rohingyan refugee in Malaysia and the comedy short film ‘Nenek’ about a mischievous grandmother faking her illness in a hospital. He hopes to continue using film as a medium to broaden the discussion on contemporary Muslim issues, outside of the typically dogmatic approaches.
