This story struck me in a "Why hasn't it been done?" kind of way.
A young man washed up on a brutal shore, far beyond the reach of help. Everything is foreign to him, his only company an indigenous population he believes intent on slaughtering him. He is starving, hallucinating, at the mercy of the land and those who occupy it.
I believe what happened between William Buckley and the aboriginals is undeniably pertinent to the society we live in today. Buckley was the original refugee. Left behind on Australian shores presumed dead, his subsequent treatment by the indigenous population was a stark contrast to our current 'civilised' laws and practices.
William Buckley's first contact is a time capsule case-study of an immigration policy with humanity, not economics, at it’s core.
GHOST IS A 100% INDEPENDENT FILM.
