Owen's Playground
Meet Stacy Marshall, Owen's mom and the visionary behind the innovative and inclusive “Owen’s Playground” on Bainbridge Island. The park’s name is in memory of her son who died at age 6 in 2013, of complications associated with cerebral palsy. We join Stacy at the heart-warming grand opening of the playground. There, on June 16, 2016, years of community donations and hands-on community involvement blossomed on a beautiful day with hundreds of local participants.
This is the first of five episodes of a web series about Owen's Playground published by Bainbridge Community Broadcasting, the only nonprofit all-volunteer community podcasting project that focuses exclusively on Bainbridge Island.
The project to create an inclusive park, designed to be safe and accessible for all, has been embraced by hosts of individuals and organizations who made the creation of this remarkable play space a true labor of love.
