Moving a Massive Transformer

In late 2015, UTC Overseas implemented a logistics plan, well over a year in the making, to transport pieces of a massive transformer from China to rural Utah. Our video documents the transport from Houston to New Mexico and then through NM, AZ and UT to the job site and final installation. Aerial drone footage was used throughout, much of it shot in dramatic locations in the west including crossings of the San Juan River, as the largest piece was carried on a 400 foot long trailer pushed and pulled by multiple heavy duty trucks.

Director Statement

The ability to obtain dramatic drone footage throughout the week long 250 mile overland move of the transformer made the real difference in a dramatic marketing piece for our client, giving viewers a real sense of the size of the transporter and wide vistas as it moved through dramatic high desert areas of the American southwest.
