I Can Only Hold You Now
I know what this means
I’m not unaware
I understand the cost
That I pay to care
I see who you are
I see all you’ve been
I still love you now
Like I did way back when
The road turned but I’m still here walking with you
Right here, right now that’s all we can do
In this moment I live my life with you
I know there will be sorrow
We’ll face that somehow
But my hands can’t hold tomorrow
They can only hold you now
Memories have wings
Some will fly away
I will keep them safe
And we still have today
I look in your eyes
You smile back at me
All I need to know
Right there for me to see
The road turned but I’m still here walking with you
Right here, right now that’s all we can do
In this moment I live my life with you
I know there will be sorrow
We’ll face that somehow
But my hands can’t hold tomorrow
I can only hold you now

For more than thirty years, Gracie and Peter Rosenberger have traveled a challenging journey through a medical nightmare. A horrible car accident in 1983 left Gracie permanently disabled ...and has eventually led to more than 75 operations including the amputation of both legs below the knee.
Throughout this ordeal, Gracie and Peter used music to deal with challenges and their talents have taken them to massive stages in front of audiences across the country. With a string a books and a lengthy history of media credits, their story has touched vast audiences and now Peter has created the first-ever CD for his fellow Caregivers: SONGS FOR THE CAREGIVER. Recognizing the strain and heartache in ways that few do, Peter brings his considerable talent to offer musical healing to those struggling while caring for a vulnerable loved one. I CAN ONLY HOLD YOU NOW is the original song he co-wrote with veteran songwriter, Buddy Mondlock. In this song, Peter and Buddy capture the heart and love of a caregiver.
As a 30-year caregiver for my wife, Gracie, through a medical nightmare, I understand the challenges, heartaches, and weariness that a caregiver can feel. As a pianist for more than 45 years, I understand how to communicate the feelings of the heart through music.
