Director Statement

Closure is a short film that is based upon a true story of a girl who desperately needed closure from a past relationship that left her damaged beyond repair. As a director, I wanted to make sure that I could bring this story to life. I carefully planned out each locations and shots so that the picture I was trying to paint would be painted very well. This story will connect to many young women all around the world that are in a similar situation. It’s an experience that a lot of women know very well, but constantly goes unnoticed. Behind every abortion, you will find a woman with a story to tell. I strongly believed that the locations that I locked really brought the story to life. I was able to secure Doraville County Jail, Stand Ford Brown's Hospital room, and the private basketball court. Each location brought value to the film and helped tell the story. During my first day of filming, my lead actress became extremely ill and was unable to perform. As a result, I made an executive decision under such short notice to actually act in the film, as Tori Lee. Nonetheless, it all worked out great with this being a dramatic film. I believe I was the best person to play the role. It wasn’t an easy task taking on two roles on set: the director and lead actress. The most challenging stage of filming was wearing so many different hats, but I believed that it helped me to become a better filmmaker.
