I recently graduated from New York Film Academy as a Documentary Filmmaker, and also completed a Diploma in Photography in South Africa prior moving to New York.
Previously I was engaged in translation,Voice-Overs and on occasion facilitate Businesses between French and English drawing on my linguistic skills. I also worked as a fashion model for many years;Casting coordinator on few Jobs including TV commercials.
Sometimes when you start a project,You can't predict the journey that awaits you.
I met Jocelyn uptown Manhattan,While scouting for my Final(Thesis film), She was working on a Mural with the youth, and I was struck by the Mural's visuals. I attended the Mural revealing the next day by conducting a long interview with her,Then I felt a very raw,and rare intimacy came out of the interview while, listening to her next Mural project, and personal stories.
That's was the beginning of this amazing verité short documentary.
It's a character driven film whereby the protagonist is striving to achieve her goal, along the way facing obstacles, and conflicts which were raising tension inter-weave with her unpleasant relationship with her mother, and the pressure of taking care of kids while pursuing her goal.
Eventually all resulted in some sort resolution at the end.
I filmed at their home, driving around to get a wall space permission, virtually everything she would allow me.
I am humbled, and honored the way she allowed me to enter her life, and to capture this story on Camera.
