Connor and Dan are a directing pair who live and work in New York. They met while working in film distribution and bonded over their love of the city's repertory cinema. GALLERY is their first film.
GALLERY is a short film that explores concepts of personal and shared perceptions of memory, and examines cinema as a filter through which we can view and attempt to comprehend our lives. As avid cinephiles, the line between “our lives” and “cinema” has become thin; this short is a piece of cinema that is about how we (as the creators) interact with and interpret cinema. It was an evolving work that demanded a different and ultimately more honest vision than our preconceived ideas of what it should be. The one constant throughout this process was that we did not intend to offer any solutions to the narrative presented, as we primarily appreciate cinema as something that asks questions more frequently than it provides answers. We hope that GALLERY should not so much be about the viewers’ interpretations but rather the fact that they are compelled to have one.
