LOVE'S HOUSE
Through “Domus Amoris” the author wants to convey and share the earthly life experiences of some characters, matching stories of love and squalor with the movie language.
This work comes from a deep love for cinema, through which the author may share, with the audience, all those events that have marked life.
The story is set in an old building of a forties/fifties neapolitan alley, during the post-fascist period, when the war had just ended, bringing with it every cultural and social background; it tells of a brothel as a setting of short and intense stories of men (prostitutes) and rich ladies (clients).
The atypical choice to switch roles between men and women is due to the author’s persuasion that human beings are able to sell their soul the same way they sell their body.
Men play roles that can be played by women too, giving to the audience a sense of levity, although they never put aside their masculine virility.
The rich “women-clients” are eager for making their thoughts, desires and fantasies concrete; they represent the image of the reprocity of a role that has always and unequivocally belonged to male Kingdom.
Two souls meet in the poverty of a room that is a temple of luxury and greediness, a place where, among squalid rites, love begins, by magic.
The rich holder discovers her soul again, falling in love with one of her young “prostitutes”.
The feelings are ennobled by the memory of the purity of a young soul, so that, love and possession are definitely parted.
Characters lives are told by a story-teller in order to well define the profiles and the temporal settings.
