The Funeral

Caste system in India has its origin many hundreds of centuries ago and base in Hindu mythology which separates human beings according to the working classes by heredity.

The lowest of the caste are often treated as untouchables. Though caste system has brought lots of reservations for the down trodden the treatment of the upper castes towards the lower has not changed for centuries.

Many activists and organisations are still fighting to restore the human dignity and freedom of the lower caste members.

The story of a denied funeral in a farming community of Dalits. A small episode but highlights the deep divisions and major contradictions that characterize Indian society. The india, a kaleidoscope of colors and cultures, which are mixed in a sort of organized chaos, absolutely charming in the eyes of Westerners, but which can lead to with ease violence and fanaticism.
