Exposure: My Broken Reality

Are you worried about how you look?
What part of your body do you want to change?
How much time per day do you spend thinking about your appearance?

Body Dysmorphic Disorder or BDD dominated artist Leigh de Vries's life for more than 25 years. It remained hidden behind a wall of secrecy and isolation.

Exploring her condition through film, her latest socially engaged art experience – breaks down societal stigmas and offers an opportunity to encounter and understand BDD through the lens of the sufferer.

Leigh de Vries aspires to raise awareness and educate around the subject of BDD and to de-stigmatise mental illness through public talks, specialist commissions, residencies and exhibitions. To be an advocate of recovery through her own story of how she confronted her condition to harness creative repair and recovery.
