Director Biography - Joseph Petito

ACTION!

That was the word I said at 3 years old while holding my grandfather's video camera. As I grew up, I fell in love with telling stories, so naturally I fell in love with films.

In high school, I officially became a filmmaker. My crew and I would go to great lengths to get projects done such as filming in houses under construction.

In college, I majored in film and was able to make my first feature when I was 20. The film is a very ambitious crime drama which showcases blank firing guns, intense drama and a whole lotta action.

When I reached a certain age, I decided I needed money. Filmmaking wasn't working out the way I wanted, so I turned to street fighting.

After a few close calls with death, I said to myself "this isn't me. I'm meant to do more than this." After that moment, I went back to filmmaking and can honestly say it saved my life. Even though it wasn't a guaranteed career, I realized risking my future is better than deliberately throwing it away.

Since that decision, I've directed multiple short films and two features ranging in different genres. I've also done commercial work (music and promotional videos, etc). Beyond my directing, I'm a trained and experienced actor, writer, editor and composer. Most of my films consist of me wearing several hats, which I wouldn't recommend, but these talents have enabled me to capture the essence of any story. Understanding the workings of these areas has strengthened me as a director.
