The Broken Ones
Andrea Kelly, a troubled and closed off young artist in her mid twenties is grappling with being placed by her overbearing mother Janet (Margaret Colin) in a sober living house in the suburbs of New Jersey, after a string of bad decisions, alcohol and drug abuse. One afternoon fate introduces her to an equally troubled young man attempting suicide by train. She takes it upon herself to show him the meaning of life through a course of events throughout the night. It isn’t until they end up in New York City that the night takes a turn for the worst and she is faced with darker demons then she was ready for.
WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THE FILM:
The film is based off of a true story or a girl who lost her dad in 9/11 and has to revisit ten years later to the anniversary. The film was shot in NJ and NYC with an incredibly diverse cast and crew. Focusing on bringing women and diversity to the forefront. The film is directed by first time female director Elyse Niblett. The film was shot by African American Cinematographer Myron Parran who has worked alongside Tarantino among many other talented directors and DP’s in his career. The crew was comprised of at least 50 percent women, people of color and members of the LGBT community. The film has an original score composed by up and coming Kiley Norton, it is original and cutting edge and one of the stand out’s when walking away from watching the film.

FLORIDA PREMIERE
A native to California, grew up in Orange County. She started her career as a theatre actor. She studied film at Chapman University, focusing on acting but also: Editing, Directing, and Screenwriting. After college, Elyse’s acting career was put on hold when her husband was stationed in Washington State. In her new environment, her interests turned to writing.
She was chosen to write scenes for the Manhattan Film Institute (MFI), a program producing 25 films in two weeks. Founded by director/writer/actor Tony Spiridakis, with Tony Goldwyn, all the films are produced shot, and edited in just two weeks. The next year, Elyse was asked not only to write, but to direct. Her directing debut was screened at the Long Beach Film Festival that same summer.She was hired to direct videos for a AFX Racing’s website. In less than three months she churned out seven short films, having produced them all herself. She’s since been asked to come back for another wave of shorts to be produced in 2015.
Her most recent work is an independent short which she produced and directed, titled iLove, which has just been sent to the Women’s Independent Film Festival, Sunset Film Festival in LA, North Hollywood Cinefest, and the Sundance Shorts program.
